Special project Obvious
OBVIOUS is a French collective of artists and machine-learning researchers exploring the creative potential of artificial intelligence. In 2018, Obvious sold the first AI-generated artwork at a major auction held by Christie’s, achieving a price nearly 45 times higher than its upper estimate—$ 432,500.
Stas and Obvious have now created a new series of works that convey the essence of artificial intelligence and the spirit of the Earth, while drawing attention to environmental issues and global warming.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Depicting the landscapes of Earth is one of the most diverse and complex challenges. Like human faces, the planet is full of similarities and differences wherever you look. In this series, we sought to capture the essence of Earth's energy-filled landscapes—seen only from above.
Picturesque Iceland was chosen for its exceptional natural beauty, and photographer Stas Bartnikas captured thousands of images of inspiring terrains. This material became the perfect foundation for the next task of our AI: to preserve the beauty of the Earth while retaining the energy and emotional depth of its landscapes.
